Lee Valley Twin Screw Vise--Followup *LINK*

Several days ago, I got into a discussion with Adam about the merits of LV Twin Screw vises, and particularly whether it would serve well as an end vise. Questions were raised, and we left it that I would get back with photos and measurements of vise performance under load. The story took a good many words and pictures to tell, so it has become an article on Roger Nixon's Traditional Tools website (link below).
Adam raised three specifics: (1) To what extent will the vise clamp angled stock? (2) Will the vise grip stock squarely, when the stock is held at benchtop level above the jaws? (3) As an end vise, how much will the front (travelling) jaw sag or deflect downward, especially when pressed on during planing?
The first question I think we settled at the time: the design provides for one uncoupled turn of the screw, and that translates into about 3/16" difference in opening from one end of the vise to the other. That's what I get, your mileage may vary. This is a good flexibility feature, but it's not the same as clamping angled stock.
The other two questions go to the use of the LV Twin Screw as an end vise. These are the ones I have tried to answer with measurements and pictures. One thing I would like to emphasize here: The design measures I used to avoid jaw sag--especially zero-clearance blocking--could be used to even better effect in LV's standard installation (mine is custom).
