New Spokeshave roll seems short on filling *LINK*

Eric Hedberg

>Ok, I admit the new spokeshave roll looks pretty good (a lot better than a plane sock), but come on, six spots. By my count that means only one more Veritas spokeshave (convex) to fill it up. I mean with at least 8 or 10 spots I'd have some hope of more toys down the road. I put the link at the bottom because it is a nice design and the wall hanging feature shows the designers really thought things out. One more thing for the wish list. Eric

How about a quantity discount?

Rob Lee

>Hi Neal...

Glad to know someone reads the copy....:)

At $12.50 - we don't have room for quantity discounts - it really is quite large, and VERY well made, as a matter of fact - several people have said it's not priced high enough...

>Now that the cat is out of the bag I guess I can comment on it OK Rob? I've had a protoype for a bit and with a little bit of work I got 10 shaves in mine. Rob is right though, it rolls kinda klunky if you overstuff it like I did. Overall comment is that it's a real bargain at $12.50. Yeah, and it was me that said he was selling it too cheap. The workmanship is great, it protects the tools well, and the carrying handle is a real plus for convenience. Now I need to get a second one because even with holding 10 shaves I'm a few spaces short of what I need. Maybe I should sell some shaves..... Nah, what came over me for a minute there?

Bottom line-- a typically well designed and executed product like we've come to expect from Lee Valleys design elves, or in this case, the Head Elf himself.

>Hi Dave -

To give credit where credit is due - there's a lot of collaboration in there...and, you made some some good suggestions too! (well - aside from the price thing :) )

I wondered if you had a hand in that

Eric Hedberg

>Dave,

I think the real reason that Rob priced it as a bargain is the same reason printers are such a deal. They make the money on the ink. Rob knows that any empty spaces are well, a waste of space. Drop me an email though if you need to unload some of those shaves of yours, I'd be glad to help out;-) Eric

>I think the idea is for you to get 5-6 rolls and arrange them so the ones that complement each other are in the same roll meaning you will need duplicat shaves so they are in possably two or three differant rolls. Keep buying. They will fit.

>Rob, gotta agree that they're a tad shortish..I'd have a hard time fitting these..especially the monster Cincinnati Tool shave..but maybe 4 or 5 of 'em would work..P.S. there's 3 more under the Cincinnati and a box of woodies under my bench...I think I gotta problem...

How about a spoke shave Rolladex...

Eric Hedberg

>Just give the wheel a spin to the shave you want or for fun just give it a spin and pop out the one that it stops at. I'm beginning to think we spokeshavers have way too much time and way too many spokeshaves (NOT!) Eric (Feeling like he's the only person who doesn't have a fancy display for his toys)

can you give us a rundown on the shaves? Especially the two on the bottom of the middle row...can't quite make them out but they certainly look interesting.

thanks
