ceramic flattening stone for waterstones
Sanford Levy
>I have been using a ceramic flattening stone for my water stones for about six months. It seems that the ceramic stone no longer flattens the waterstones as quickly as it used to. It is almost as if the surface were glazed the way a grinding wheel gets glazed when you grind too many chisels and planes. (In fact, after twenty minutes trying to flatten a sater stone on the groved side with only partial success, I flipped the ceramic stone over and flattened the water stone with just a few strokes on the flip side!) With a regular grinding wheel, I just pull out my diamond dresser and clean the wheel in seconds. I have tried cleaning the flattening stone with a wire brush and it still seems very slow to cut. Are there any suggestions? Sanford
