How hard to carve figured mahogany?
Todd from San Jose
>I'm trying to decide what wood to use for a lowboy, and one of the decisions I'm struggling with is figured Vs. plain ball-and-claw legs. One wood I'm considering is highly figured honduras mahogany, but I don't know how tricky it'll be to carve.
I'm a somewhat rookie carver. I've made a setee with carved trifid feet out of plain african mahogany, and a ball-and-claw prototype out of basswood. How much more difficult is it to carve figured honduras mahogany? Will tearout be a difficult battle to fight?
Thanks
Todd
