Both craftsman planes, both for about the same tasks, yet almost mirror images. You have an iron frog and brass sides combined with a wooden sole/infill, while rtutsky chose to create an entirely wooden body with an adjustable metal sole.
I don't remember ever seeing either approached exactly the way you two have done it - mostly I'm fascinated that you both (presumably) tackled the problem with open minds, but came to almost precisely opposite ends.
And, bravo to both - nice, proudsome work.

>Don I used brass for the sides for looks, and for weight. It adds quite a bit of weight to the smoother, which is good for this type of plane.
