Fun w/ Friends, Long
Alan, Montana
>A friend wanted some furniture to match his fireplace he had installed two years ago and couldn't find wanted he wanted, so he's been using my shop to build to suit. He hadn't had much experience with hand tools so I've been having fun with it, he'll get to a spot where a certain hand tool is needed and I'll say you need a ..., he'll say a what? and I'll pull it out and get him going on it. His favorite has been the scraper plane. Anyway, a few weeks ago we got to where a bullnose shoulder plane would have been perfect, he said a what?, and I said but I don't have one of those, so we pulled out the old chisel, his least favorite tool. He came over tonight for the last work on his last piece here, as he's moving to MN, and dropped off an LV bullnose shoulder plane. What a beautiful little tool. Can't wait to use it, though it may be a while since I'm in the midst of a too big home tile project. Now he's got to find a house to match the furniture he's built to match his fireplace he's leaving behind. I'll miss him but at least I have a great reminder of some good times.
