Where to find QS 8/4 beech

>I want to make a few moulding planes and have just finished making a couple of floats to help in that endeavour.

Now I can't find any 8/4 QS stcok locally. Looks like the diffuse-pourous woods like Beech, Maple and Birch would be the choice with Beech being the standard I guess. Anyone know of a good source of quarter-sawn lumber on the web that will sell in small quantities (say 20bd-ft)?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

>Do a search for posts by Pam N. Before Christmas she posted a link to I think Barbra Gil in Va. She normaly has 16/4 QS Beech. After the hurricanes they had 50 some trees down blocking the way to the Beech. Maybe by spring or early summer they might get back to them.

Glueing and Doing

Todd Stock

>If these are your first molding planes, you might consider laminating them out of plain-sawn stock or thinner QS stuff. I ended up burning my first few tries, so you might think about just gluing and doing.

>Todd,

Good advice! Think I'll take it.
