Collaborative Woodworking Project

Jason Caudill

>Hello,

In addition to being a woodworker, I'm also a graduate student in Instructional Technology at the University of Tennessee. I'm starting a project for a collaborative learning class that will connect traditional woodworkers with a high school shop class to help give them an appreciation for tradtional tools and techniques. I've put the project announcement below. If anyone would be interested in participating in a discussion board to help teach the value of hand tools to high school students please let me know. I'll be glad to answer questions from anyone, so feel free to e-mail me.

Project Announcement:

Help Shop Students Learn Traditional Woodworking Skills

Im organizing a collaborative online project that will put high school woodshop students in touch with traditional woodworking experts via a moderated discussion board on the internet. This will give the students an opportunity to hear from experts about how useful traditional hand tools and techniques can be in addition to providing a forum for them to ask questions and get tips and advice on how to do traditional woodworking. It is hoped that this project will not only familiarize students with using the internet as an information resource but also give them a solid foundation in traditional craftsmanship that will benefit their future study of woodworking.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Jason
