Mahogony is my new favorite Wood!!!
Dean in Burlington
>After working on my stair project which was hard maple and jatoba I decided to make a new wall cabinet for my hand planes and tools. I chose Mahogony because of the good things I heard about it for hand tools and it was a pleasure to plane....especially compared to the hard maple and jatoba!!!
The one thing I did notice was I didn't get the glassy smooth finish on the Mahogony like on the hard maple....especially on the edges.
So...what are some other good woods to use hand tools...especially planes with (excluding pine)? Does anyone have any favorites? I would expect cedar, cherry and walnut to also be enjoyable.
