Gary Knox Bennett

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>Someone asked the other day what he's up to. The local paper had a snippet this weekend about a show of his chairs that the Oakland, California museum is sponsoring. I wasn't able to find any useful web info. Anyone interested might try googling "Gallery 555," in Oakland (apparently, it's a chain - Google brings up an incredible number of listings), in about a month. Better yet, drive on out/down/up to Oakland, and check the stuff out (said the Oakland native, doing a little Chamber of Commerce promotion while I've got your attention).

He's delved into some interesting stuff. Although I wouldn't have most of his furniture in my Queen Anne cottage (it would look an Edwardian dude wearing Converse tennies), he's not copying other people's work.

Disclaimer: no affiliation, other than he works in Alameda, the town that keeps the San Francisco Bay from washing up on Oakland's shores.

>Is Gary the guy who drove and bent over the nail in the wooden cabinet a few years ago?? You either loved it or hated it.
