Anybody know who made...

John Longwitz-Doraville, GA

>...Diamond Edge DE8 jointer. Picked up a nice old one on eBay with plenty of blade, no noticeable defects and only light surface rust on blade and chipbreaker. Doesn't look like Stanley made it from looks of the tote. Low front knob. Any info appreciated. Will have fun cleaning it up in any regard and blade looks to have been properly honed in the past and cared for.

>Is the blade tapered? If so, then it is an Ohio Tool. They made planes for many retailers and imprinted the seller's logo on the blade with an unmarked body (except for size). Ohio Tool went under (literally; there was a flood) in about 1916.

>...I have an Ohio Tool 06 and know what you mean about "tapered blade". This DE8 has same kind of cutter as most others with the Shapleigh Hardware Diamond Edge logo on it.
