>I wasn't going to go in to work today with the fire last night it burned for 8 hours and the fire department said there was nothing they could do. It was ausom watching a 40' tree burn the wires started it from the ice pulling it down into the lines the power company wouldn't come out because we still had power. at times the flames were 3'-4'high and 25 feet up in the air. This morning it just looks like the tree had a radicaal power company trimming. I sat up watching it to make sure the sparks didn't set the shed or any thing else on fire. It is nice to have a free day might even stumble down to the shop

>what ice can do. I used to be the one that went out and found the structures that had collapsed on the big transmission lines after storms. I've seen miles of lines where all the ice made steel structures collapse. The wooden ones looked like tooth picks! The little ones like at Ernies are bad enough!

>I know exactly what a little ice can do. I work for a utility in MN, and it's my duty/distinct pleasure to call out the linemen when ice takes out the overhead lines. Of course, they don't think it's as much fun as I do. :-)

>Yep I flew the aerial patrol and my observer & I would find the problems and call in what structures they were. This one doesn't have any lineman for the transmission lines they just called other companies and had a single employee go "stupervise" :)
