Plane has a great look about it, not all buffed and Too shiny but still nice and clean.Can tell the plane never saw much use and it looks good cleaned up to this extent, personaly I think maybe on a well used plane might have been to much but looks perfect on this little no.2.....Nice plane and a nice job...Todd

Supe nice work. You should be very proud especially given the history of the plane.
BTW...I vote for get it out of the cabinet and use it one in a while. Your Grandpa would be pleased I'm sure!!

>My first hand plane was a #5 that my grandfather owned. I liberated it from door trimming duty at my father's. It is a decent vintage Stanley in good condition. It is nothing too special but is a nice tool and I cannot help but think of him when I use it (he passed away when I was in my late teens). Enjoy your #2!

I followed the guide at rexmill.com. The japaning was near perfect, so I did not have to do anything to it, just clean it real good. And the did everything else on the webpage for cleaning the balde/chipbreaker and the body and soul.
