Central FL rust?

>I'll be going back and forth from Miami to Sarasota a few times in the coming weeks (Xmas with my sister and her brood, then back to Miami for a week or so, then back to Sarasota again, this time to pick up my Dad and bring him back to South Beach for a week or so. (These days there is nothing that seems so reliably good for his spirits as a stroll along the topless beach below the apartment. Under other circumstances he'll rarely manage a half-mile walk, but somehow his stamina allows several times that on South Beach.)
Anyway, I know from experience that Florida's retirement patterns affect the rust-hunting. As a gross generalization, East Coasters tend to retire on the east coast of FL - Vero Beach, Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, St. Augustine, etc. Midwesterners tend to retire to the west coast of FL - Sarasota, Tampa/St. Pete, Ft. Myers, Naples, etc. The result is that FL's west coast gets the fine retired patternmakers from the rust belt and furnituremakers from Grand Rapids. Here on the east coast OTOH, we seem to get the retired insurance agents, and accountants, and other paper-pushers. Thus, when the kids put out the tools in the estate sale, west-coasters do commensurately better.
So, since I'll be visiting the FL west coast a good bit between now and mid-Jan., does anyone have any rust-hunting possibilities over on that side in the next month or so? Any suggestions (places and dates) for promising fleas, junk extravaganzas, or whatever, would be extremely welcome.
