I recently acquired a sawset (I can't remember the maker right now) with turn of the century patent markings on it and went to look it up on Nathan Lindsey's "Study of Saws Sets" website (http://users.interconnect.net/nlindsey/SawSetPage/SawSets.htm).

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to come up. I don't know if the problem is with me or with the website. Does anyone know if Mr. Lindsey has closed down his site? Or, if he has changed ISP's or addresses, does anyone know the new address?

By the way, I checked and it's a Morrill - and has "Special" cast on the inside of the handle. Looks to me to be in good shape. Only $1. Doubt, and don't expect it to be collectable - just like knowing some of the history of the tools that wander into my shop.

From what I can tell, I've got a pretty standard sawset - which is fine by me - and its still not the vaunted Stanley 42 (or its brethern). Now that I've had a chance to get down in the shop briefly, I see it's VERY similar to a "Lakeside" brand sawset that I already have, but the handle squeezing action is lighter/easier on the Morrill - which I think I'm going to like.
