>I just had a friend give me a rusty,dusty type 9 #5 stanley plane.On close inspection it appears to be in good shape considering the condition. No frozen screws,no cracks,iron pretty full sized.The only damage is the top horn of the tote is broken off.
The lever cap however appears to be from a different brand of plane. I think I've seen pictures of these on a sargent.It's a bit longer than other stanley #5 lever caps,but it fits well.I like it, so if it works okay when I'm done tuning it, I'll leave it.
