>I used cold rolled steel for the sole and brass for the sides on my first attempt at double dovetails, and they both worked pretty well. The main problem that I had with the cold rolled steel that I used is that it wasn't very flat and took quite a bit of work to get flat. That, and I left way too much steel sticking out of the sides, and it took a lot of filing to get the sides flat.
Speaking of gunmetal... for anyone that knows, is gunmetal actually the name of the metal, or is it just a specific type of metal that's used in guns? I've tried finding gunmetal, but I can't seem to find any.
