Can anyone help out identifying an old vise? A coworker asked me today about a Vise on an old bench he found when he bought his new house. The vise was manufactured by Massey Vise Co. in Chicago Pat. LG 28. The vise has a metal lead screw with wooden jaws. Thanks!

The Directory of American Toolmakers is a little vague concerning Massey Vice Co. The company was formed in 1891 in Chicago by Thomas C. Massey but he had done business previously in both New York City and Chicago using his own name. He used the brand name Lightening Grip on some of his vices.
