Lee Valley does it again

Alan Bierbaum

>I may not be the first; and I am sure that I am not the only one (form letter, not personal) to receive a very pleasant surprise in the mail. I pried out a large envelope from my mailbox that was from Lee Valley. I did not have an outstanding order. Inside was a note and a dust cover for my MK II sharpening system. Thanks Rob, and crew! Now the rag is removed and the cover installed.

>Bah, abandoned us MK I owners again.

Oh, OK, I can't resent that; nice to hear you are treated well! And LV sent me numerous parts to upgrade the MK I in various ways.

>did they have a note or letter stating if this was going to happen to all that bought the MKII???? can't say I would be unhappy to get one of those myself in similar fashion

LV never ceases to amaze me at their attention to detail and customer-focus

1st class-Got mine today too.

Tony Sade (Charleston, WV)

>Ironically, I had just recently posted-on another forum, I think, asking for sources for such a cover for the MK II and some other tools. Great CS from Lee Vally, as usual, and timely too! That's why they get a hefty portion of my tool and ww stuff dollars. Tony

>The note reads (in part):

"Dear Customer,

Our records indicate that you have purchased this power sharpening system.

In response to several customer request, Veitas has designed a dust cover that will now be included with this system. The enclosed complimentary nylon dust cover is being sent to you because it was not available at the time of your purchase."

It looks like I bought mine in mid May of this year. It is great service and a complete surprise. I also really like the system.

I got my party hat too!

Paul M. in San Diego

>I was wondering why I got this funky hat that looks like the cylindrical ones that african drummers wear. I've got a big head, but this one is even too large for me. And it came in all black, not the cool green, yellow, and red that is typical for this type of headgear. I did like the Veritas logo, which was a cool touch. Then I read the letter and see that it's a dust cover for the QPSS.

I don't know why the sharpener needs a dust hood. When I turn it on, all the dust just flys off. But it is a bit too big to fit on my head, so I guess I'll use it as intended.

Thanks Rob! This is the 2nd time that you've followed up with an unsolicited bonus. Once you discounted an item after I purchased it, and sent me a check for the difference. This time you send me an added feature that I was content without. I've never dealt with ANY company that had as high a level of customer service as Lee Valley.

>Hi -

Thanks for the comments...

All who purchased a MKII have been sent a dust cover - pls give until Dec 20th for it to arrive...I believe they went by USPS, and may take awhile to reach everyone.

We knew we were going to do this back in August (Lyn has been pushing for a dust cover for awhile)...it's taken awhile to get the stock in, and inventory retrofitted.

Cheers -

Rob
