>Good score since you got both the fence and the depth stop. These are frequently missing. I think the Sargent (and Craftsman) #78's are a bit different from Stanley since they have the little horn/handle on the front of the plane. Looks like it would be kind of handy to hook your thumb over it.

>Very nice find! I'm awaiting a box from my parents, who were antique-ing (I hate that word!) in San Diego and found a few planes. They know NOTHING about planes, so I have no idea what I will end up with. One they might have bought is a Fulton but I have no idea what model or what condition it is in. There might be a couple of woodies but I'm not sure because my parents can't seem to distinguish between wood planes (as in, planes that plane wood) and wooden planes (planes made of wood). It's a nice gesture on their part, for sure. And it's kind of exciting not knowing what I will get and of course there is the hope (fantasy?) that they stumbled on something incredibly valuable. I'll report back when I receive the box.

One day they brought me a pipe cutter like the small ones you use to cut copper pipe, but this one has a 12" handle and about a 4"+ capacity. You know, because I have all that 4" copper pipe in my house I need to cut.

But having parents that would even bother to look, in itself, is gloatable. :)

Gosh all for $1, that's got to be a record of some type. Best record that I know of is a $3 #1. this has at least got to be in the top 10.

You're right, the best gloat is that you've got parents that even bother to look.

Just found out yesterday that I should be fossil hunting down your way towards the end of Feb. '05. Elynn wants to dig for two days this time. How's that sound to ya'?
