Rehabed a couple of old chisels......

A stanley 750 1" and an old pexto (sp?) 3/4". Both came from my grandpa on my dad's side. A couple of nice old timey socket chisels added to the stable. Both handles are in good shape so I just reground them and then put them to the stones until they shaved arm hair right well.

Pexto - the corporatized version of "Peck and Stowe," and I wish they'd stayed with the old name - is one great chisel. I own two, a 1/4" and a 1/2", and they seem to run forever between sharpenings.

BTW-they also made other tools and it`s rather common to find thier calipers and dividers up here in New England.They are just as well made as thier chisels.

Lotsa old hardware stores had chisels made by the major manufacturers with any label they wanted....or no name at all for that matter.
I have one stamped Samson that is clearly not a PS&W, just like several old Craftsman brand are clearly Greenlee.
