A Good Week

>While back I had a friend over to the house and was showing him some tools when he asked me about a no. 112 scraper plane. Had to admit to him that I had a couple "Dog" ones out in the shop but for some reason I didn't have a nice one to show him.Started me a wanting a nice 112. Not a rare plane for sure but living in the old tool hell I do I haven't seen many, esp. nice ones. Well go to my every week auction last week and this one was setting there waiting for me.Really a beautiful older plane,[I think probably 1890's - 1900] that is in near mint condition, 100% jappaning and looks like it was used once or twice , put carefully away and that was it. I'll never use it of course but it will live a good life in my tool cabinet.Thought it strange that I wanted a nice one and one soon came to me. Pictured with it is a VERY unusual and I believe rare 7 fold folding box wood Cask Gauging rule used to determine the gallons in different types of barrels. English and from the mid 1800's. Woman had it at the Sunday Flea market in DC that Joanne and me go to. She knew what it was sort of and hit me up for $120, [talked down form $150 but I think it was a good deal on a desirable rule. ....Crossed a few other non tool things off my "wish list" last week as well, picked up a near mint WWII Remington 1911A1 pistol , found a mint WWII Waltham Military watch plus also a nice older Rolex watch all of which I have been wanting..... Guess clean living does pay off, eh? Todd
