I can get two cherries - opinions?
Jonathan Ronnow, Sweden
>The more or less local bauhaus, a home improvement store with roots in germany, now stocks two cherries chisels, gouges and carving tools. And since its only half an hours drive away Im really tempted to buy a full set of them. I bought the 6mm just to check them out, first impression is not so flat back, hard steel and misaligned handle. Since its so buffed, the corners on the back are rounded and it took some work to get the back flat all the way across. Its also bellied. The handle got aligned with the help of a pair of pliers. I havent used it yet, only sharpened it.
What they are to match:
I have several japanese chisels for "finer" work, but Id like to replace my mixed set of marples blue chips and others. The carpentry chisels if you like...
The chisels costs 128 SEK which equals 8.5 usd, tax included, which Im willing to pay. So price isnt the issue, id just like to know how they are in the long run.
Sooo.... who has these and how do yall like them?
