Bailey #7
Bob Hutchins in central Texas
>Several weeks ago at the local fire department community garage sale, I saw my first Stanley Bailey #7C in the wild. It had the low knob but there were serious chips and cracks in the handle. I rated it as "fair" at best. I couldn't release the lever cap which was rusted so I couldn't inspect the blade. She was asking $25 but wouldn't take my offer of $15.
I walked on. Did I do wrong? I need a #7 but keep thinking I shouldn't compromise on quality. Or is this one of those cases where if you get one, they'll start coming out of the woodwork?
