Last call for Moxon?

Christopher Schwarz

>One of my favorite woodworking books is Joseph Moxon's "Mechanick Exercises." It's one of those books that is fun to decipher the first time (like reading "Riddley Walker.") And I pick up some new nugget everytime I thumb through it over lunch.

If you don't have this book, you might want to snatch one up sooner rather than later. Astragal Press, the current publisher, is now listing it as out of print. I know that Joel at Tools for Working Wood has some (I saw them on Monday). Otherwise, you're going to have to buy it through bookfinder.com or another used bookseller.

Just a heads-up for fence-sitters.

>Ok - I'll put one aside, but you know we are open on Saturdays now - so you could aviod the rush and pick one up today.

BTW - we don't have a lot of copies. When Astragal told us they were discontuing the book we bought all their stock but it wasn't a lot of copies. Real shame that's it's going out of print. Once you get into the groove of reading the old text it's very interesting and informative.

>Thanks for the tipoff - I just ordered my very own Moxon (and, as long as I was right THERE on Joel's site with those Auriou rasps, which seem to make otherwise sensible WWers go all giggly and softheaded ... well, I can only quote the great all-purpose excuse from Dangerous Liaisons - "It was simply beyond my control.")

>Yep, great text, a must for hand tool folk. Order now! I'd feel a bit empty should I ever misplace my copy.
