Need Bedrock Frog

>Recently acquired for the grand sum of $0.00 :~) a round cheek, #606 sole w/frog adjustment screw that beleive it or not is in pretty decent condition. No knob, tote, frog, blade, cap iron, or lever cap tho. :~( Ahhhhhhhhh well, for $0, I'm not fussing.

Looking on Bob Kuanes site I thinking that it is a type 4, but ain't certain. Cast in front of the Knob is "No 606", (No, as in number, not the opposite of yes) and just behind the tote is PAT'D APR.2-95.

I can deal with the other items, but I need to first find out exactly what type this is, and than get a frog for it.

Anybody got a frog looking for a new lily pad?

Bet Scott G. would just make one wouldn't he.

Gads, thats a nice scraper plane he made eh?

>According to Kaune's type study published in Walter, your body is either a type 3 or type 4. Kaune notes that type 4 bodies usually do not have a "B" casting mark, while type 3 bodies usually do. So, you could get away with building a whole plane with a collection of either type 3 or type 4 parts. So, if yours does not have the B casting mark, then you would avoid arguments with nitpickers if your frog lateral adjuster did not have any patent dates on it. In either case, you want a frog with a small adjusting screw.

>Thanks for the info William. the base does not have a "B" on it. I checked for it real good too.

Nitpickers? I'm not concerned about them. I'm gonna do my utmost to get this plane back into action, and in the process rescue many wayward bits and pieces.

Lets see now, how many pices do I need. 1 Tote, and 1 screw for it, 1 knob and 1 screw for it, 1 frog, 2 screws and 2 washers for it, 1 blade, 1 chipbreaker 1 screw for blade chipbreaker assy. and a 1 lever cap. Thats 13, coarse that assuming that the frog is complete with adjuster wheel and the screw that holds on the lever cap.

Never really realized that a plane had so many pieces.

I have a knob and cracked tote off of a type 5 605. Its a high knob, but if you're interested, let me know.

>Sure Angelo, I'd be interested for sure. I just realized that the tote has a screw at it's forward base as well as the rod thru the handle.

does your type 5 have it as well?

So now it's up to 14 parts, and possibly 15 as I'm not certain if that screw requires a washer or not.

Thanks!
