Wifes bar thing ( High Boy?)

>This is the bar thing I have been working on for my wife all summer long. after putting it in the dining room I finaly realized that it is a high boy. it kinda matches the china hutch that I made several years ago. made of white oak with a Blue Pearl Granite. I still need to grout the top but it is close enough to finished for a picture.

Fortunately, I can provide such a class from the comfort of your own home!
Lesson One: The word "thing" ought not to appear in any piece's title. If forced, use "thingy".
Lesson Two: Avoid the owner's name in the title unless they have a name like Rockefeller or Rothschild or van Something IV: the "van Etherridge IV Newport Secretary" is acceptable while "Billybob's toothcleaner" is not. Anythingy kept at home is assumed to belong to SWMBO.
Lesson Three: Pictures of bars and bar equipment without the appropriate accoutrements can only appear half finished. Dave Anderson should be your role model here. Okay, that's not name related, but it needed to be said anyway.

Technically, I think, a highboy is a tall chest of drawers. I think you have made yourself a dry bar.
Or, you can call it a sideboard, buffet, server or huntboard if you like!

One question: Why is the work surface longer than the cabinet? From the living room photo it looks like an intrusion waiting to snag unsuspecting bodies.

Dave my saw this granite she liked and at the same time wanted a bar. It just so happens she is married and as such couldn't afford to hire a real cabinet maker so she setteled on me. Being a poor boy has it's benifets.
? It has shelves inside that are adjustable.
every one else The name thing she wanted a bar with pantry type storage in to because her kitchen is to small for all of the stuff she has. after having it in place I realized that a bar wasn't the right thing to call it. Hunt board? maube that. Or maybe a William Miller Jr. Plain's style tall serving chest.
Who cares how long it take to make it is the fun making it that counts streach it out and you have more fun. I also worked on several other projects during the same time.
