Pittsburg Trip
Dave Anderson Chester,NH
>I had to go to Pittsburg on Thursday and Friday to visit some customers for my regular day job. I made contact with our esteemed moderator Ted Owen before I left and we planned a meeting. A most gracious host, Ted met me at my last mmeting on Thursday and guided me hither and yon through the gathering darkness until we reached his home. In deference to the sensabilities of this group, I will omit reference to some of the HUGE pieces of electron eating big iron residing in his garage. Suffice to say that a 36" Neander Buddy is always an impressive sight.
The meat of the tour was his basement shop with the centerpiece being the fine tool cabinet he made which is posted in the shop shots section of this website. It is a very nice piece of work and quite functional. I'm sure however that Ted is regretting not making it larger. It was quite overfull with all kinds of goodies from such friends of ours as Ashley Isles, Steve Knight, Tom LN, Rob Lee, St James Bay, and a few I forget. One minor defect I did notice was some spare open space in the separate cabinet which houses his selection of wooden planes. I am sure he will take note of this comment and make every effort to correct this deficiency.
We went out to a very pleasant dinner and then repaired back to his home for more conversation. I was honored to be an overnite guest in his home. The only fly in this ointment is the standard one which occurs when visiting a fellow Neanderthal, there is never enough time. Thank you for the hospitality Ted, I truly enjoyed myself.
