>I live in a wee-bitty town in the foothills of the Eastern Sierras. Being a former mining and cattle raising area (both activities are still important, but we now have art galleries, etc.) rust hunting is generally pretty good but usually limited to farm and mining tools.
I went to an annual yard sale put on by a family who used to own the only antique store in the area - it's a 2-day event and most of the offerings are furniture and crockery. While strolling the aisles I spotted a perfect #12-1/2: no rust, perfect handle, the rosewood sole looked like it had never been used and I couldn't detect any indication that the iron had ever been sharpened/honed/filed.
$5!!!!!
I probably won't use it as I have very serviceable #80 and #12 already. It'll look nice in the library - shame on me. Does this make me a collector?
