>Greetings from the great Pacific Northwest. What is the traditional use for a scraper plane like the Lie Nielsen 85? I have the L-N 212 which is too small so, I am looking at the #85. Thanks in advance.

>I assume the traditional use was scraping assembled casework and perhaps pattern work, but for me, it's a good general purpose scraper plane that is more easily driven in tougher materials than the wider 112.
Also nice for cleaning up te edges of cap rails, beads, etc.
I have the 112, 212, and the 85 - most work gets done with the 85 these days.
