Auction "wood block plane"
Dale Stansbery
>I finally found one of these things in the wild. The auctioneer called it a wood block plane. Bidding was furious at $1 a step, but I finally prevailed at $20.
It needs a little attention, and a new blade. Where would a person find a blade that's slightly tapered thickness and 3/16" thick at the bevel and 2 1/8" wide. My best guess is that it is a cast body, but I haven't attempted any cleaning yet. It also has a cast steel cap iron with the name cast in it as opposed to bronze. The tote is a replacement, and looks like beech.
