Veritas Mk.II Power Sharpening Sys. Accessories?

Don Thompson - Cutler Ridge, Florida

>I hit the half-century mark yesterday, and Wifey told me that I had gifts on the way from Lee Valley, Lie-Nielsen and Glen-Drake. (!) After some adult beverages were consumed last evening, and a bit of whining, she told me that the LV item is the Veritas PSS.

Now that some of you folks have been using the VM2PSS for a while, what accessories do you recommend? Get all of the LV grits? How many of each? More platters? Which sizes? Extra tool holders? PSA abrasive paper from someone else?

I have saved a bunch of postings and emails on this subject over the past year or so, but any new revelations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

P.S. Rob, the Wish List worked. ;-)

>There's been quite a lot of discussion of this system on the Hand Tools board. You might want to try a search over there, especially for posts by Lyn Mangiameli.

>Hi Don -

Already sent you an email - but for those reading here - I wouldn't order anything else...we try to put all you need with the system...

As well - it depends on what/how you sharpen, but the disks last a long time...

Initially - you may use more coarse disks as you establish the geometry on tools you haven't sharpened for awhile. Later you may find you use the finer disks more.

Have fun!

Cheers -

Rob
