>I just uploaded a very brief tour of Lee Valley Tools as part of yet another WoodCentral initiative -- to showcase some of our major sponsors. This is somewhat of a trial balloon, and I'd like to know if you value this sort of coverage of our corporate supporters.

Hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

"Any" vendor??

Ellis Walentine

>Yikes, maybe we should have a fund raiser for a corporate jet. :-)

As much as I would love to visit everyone, it's more likely that my efforts will be limited to the major sponsors you see on our home page, a more manageable number.

Glad you liked my little travelogue.

I wonder

Dan Donaldson

>There are people from all over that post here at WC. Perhaps some of them would be willing to tour vendors that are close to them for inclusion in the shop shots. There could be a set of guidelines of things to cover and kinds of pictures that are interesting if that would help. That would be a way to spread the fun, as I am sure that many would just love to tour some of the places. It might also get the tour people more access if it were presented as a tour for inclusion at WC.

Just a thought.

Good idea, Dan

>I've actually gotten a couple e-mails in exactly the same vein. I say let's do it.

If any of you are inclined to get involved in this new venture, please e-mail me. At the least, you will need a digital camera, preferably with tripod (flash is worthless in large facilities). You should also have at least *some* experience with interviewing and/or writing. Let me know and I'll put you on the list.

If you fit the description and are interested, please check out our advertisers' banners and see if any of them are headquartered in your area, and let me know that, too.

Thanks so much.

I'll sign up to be your pilot! That sounds like quite a gig! Flying to woodworking destinations, talk about a dream job! Cessna will be comming out with their Mustang in early 2006.... :)

>Ellis, keep 'em coming. Yes, Lee Valley is one of, if not my favorite suppliers. Placed an order last month, and it was in my hand three days later. You don't do this with people who don't care.

>That tour is very interesting. I think you're on to a great idea with this.

Maybe some David Ellsworth video when we're there in February?

Best, Ted

When it comes the turn for Lie-Nielsen tools, They are near me and I will be delighted to do a coverage, I am a good photographer too.

I'll let you know, Jorge

>As you know, documentary pieces like this require some journalistic chops as well as photography. In the case of Tom Lie-Nielsen, I am planning to drive up there myself, as we are friends and I owe him a visit.

I've had a couple other Maine folks volunteer for that assignment. Maybe we can have a lobster party or something for all of you when I come up. I'd like to see Peter Korn, too. We were in a guild together in Philly in 1980, but I haven't been up to visit his school in years. Gotta do that.

>Hello Rob,

You look ok. I guess because you are the son of saint Lee, I think that in my mind I imagined you as being a kid, or about about 25 years old.

>That came out wrongly, perhaps. I just love your father's sharpening book (which I consider to be the sharpening bible), and the associated video.

Anyway, keep up the good work and innovations at LV. I am still jealous of the Canadians having your stores around!

>Ellis,

Peter Korn's place is a nice trip in itself, well worth it and about half an hour from Tom Lee-Nielsen, so when you come let us know and for sure several characters will come out of the woodwork. Maybe we can set up the lobstah! ayuh!
