Mortise Gauge: Worth it???

Doug

>I do a lot of mortising and am currently using the LV marking gauge. I've noticed the tite-mark gauges with the dual mortising cutters and am intrigued. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Is it worth the extra money to get it when I've already got the LV wheel gauge? Thanks as always.

>Do you cut your mortises by hand? The mortise gauge marks both sides of the mortise at the same time - useful if you don't align a router against a reference face, or the board against the fence of a mortising machine.

If your mortising tools are meat-powered, then having both sides consistently marked the same width is a convenience. And tends to add accuracy, too.

Are you looking for justification to buy another tool?
