How do I do this?

>Hi everybody,
I am making a small wall rack. Picture a through dovetail drawer with no bottom panel. This will lie flat against the wall. On top of this will be a peaked "roof". The rack part is walnut and the roof is makore. How do I attach the roof?
My thought so far is to notch the underside of the roof so that the rack is recessed into it at the corners. Unfortunately I do not think this will provide enough surface for a successful gluing job. I could nail through the roof but I really don't want to after the work that went into it (top surface of the roof is curved). There will be a panel toward the front edge of the rack so you will not be able to see through the peak of the roof. I could just apply some largish glue blocks behind the panel since they wouldn't be seen but for some reason I am looking for something more elegant.
Opinions and suggestions are encouraged, as always. I am willing to be convinced to keep things simple and go with the glue blocks. Go ahead, convince me!
Thanks,
