Hirsch Mortise Chisel

>Well, I got my 1/2" Hirsch mortise chisel from LV today in the mail, man is it HUGE! I've never seen a chisel so big. Well, I started to sharpen it, when i accidentley dropped it! It fell 3 feet edge down right on the concrete! I was so mad, but when I picked it up, I was amazed! There was only a .5 MM dent on the left edge! I couldn't beleive it. I'm glad I also have the Hirsch bevel edge chisels from LV, because now I know their steel is excellent!

I also got my first saw vice from ebay too, today was a good day.

>Joel,

You're going to like them even more when you put them to use.

I have Two Cherries mortise chisels--which are supposed to be identical twins to your Hirsch chisels--and I love them. Yours and mine are serious tools for serious work--their size and heft show that. With those big handles my paws get a really good grip without cramping my fingers; and their generous length help me keep them square.

I haven't tried the "edge first onto concrete" test just yet. I think I'll save that trial for another day.

>You had to post this where I would see it, eh????

Now I am out $75 plus to pay for the 3/8 and 1/2"....but thanks, anyway, cause I needed to do it. Hopefully I can delay getting the 1/4" but my cc hand is still itching wildly.
