Winchester plane info needed

>I got a Winchester Jack plane (the 3010 made by Sargent) awhile ago with a Stanley lever cap. Found a Winchester one for it and the only problem is the paint infill around the Winchester Trade Mark on it is black. All the others I've seen are red. Any info about this would be appreciated. Also any general info about Winchester planes as there doesn't seem to be much on the net....thanks..John
