>Do you have any shoulder plane right now? If the answer is "NO", get the medium shoulder plane, especially if you are planning to do any traditional cabinetry construction. It is a much more versatile tool. In particular, it will help you create tight mortise and tenon joints with no visible gaps on the surface. The bull nose plane is just for cleaning up glue joints and fitting rabbets, where you cannot see the results. Using a bullnose for jointery is like taking a pekingese out hunting. You need a hounddog with a real nose.
