Blatant bias post about LN

Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA

>Well they did it again, Brittany...

I ordered the Rob Cosman 4 DVD set. Well to say the least I was not impressed. I gleaned no useful information out of these. Just got off the phone a fine folks at Lie-Nielsen, and bless their hearts they will take the DVD's back. What a great company.

BTW...What's up with that Uncle Fester character in his videos? Guy looks like Eddy off an Iron Maden album cover.

>So the DVDs were that bad eh?

By the way, Scott, that is one of the most biased posts I have ever read. You are obviously biased against LN for selling such poor videos and you are biased towards LN for graciously accepting to take them back.

;)

Well I'll put it this way...

Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA

>I must be a better woodworker than I thought, because I found no new knowledge on any of them.

My biggest complaint is that it's like an advertisement for LN tools. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE their tools.

He's kind of boring to watch IMHO and I disagree with a lot of his ways of doing things.

I like the Jim Kingshot videos much better; he's a far better teacher IMHO. Guess I'm just old school here.

I'm not dissing the vids; just not right for me, for a beginning hand tool user there is much to be learned by this series.

I would not want anyone to think I'm biased...

I love Iron Maiden. I love the two Cosman tapes I have as well. Ah well, to each his own.

Instead of...

"Is it Maiden or the Table saw (or shop vac, or thickness planer?"

Pretty much can't tell the difference - well, actually I prefer the planer... *grin*

Sorry, just giv'n you stick...

Each to their own. My last project was done to Chumbawamba - Un and Kraftwerk - Tour de France. (I know you'll think I'm just as nutty as I do you! Just listen to Chumbawamba - "Everything you know is wrong"...you'll be amused or tearing your hair out.)

>Funny - there was an episode of "Between the Lions" (kids' show) on yesterday where they were showing the story of Icarus. My 4-1/2 yr old was trying to understand it. I tried to explain to him that he'd been listening to "Flight of Icarus" since before he could sit up, but it didn't seem to matter...

I liked them

Mike in Mystic

>I am a veritable newbie - and about as green as they come.

I found the Cosman DVDs very helpful, if not a redundant. I haven't watched dozens of instructional videos to compare to, but I have watched the Klauz dovetail a drawer and mortise and tenon videos and I far preferred Cosman's approach and presentation.

I would agree with Scott, that it really is only for beginners - but who else would need instructional videos?
