6" or 8"?

>I'm looking to get a bench grinder for reshaping plane irons and some odd grinding. Cnanadian Tire has both 6 and 8" models on for a decent price. I'm looking at replacing the course wheel with a white Norton and using teh LV grinding rest. Is there an advantage of the 8" over 6" other than the wheels lasting longer. I'm wondering if I need the larger radius for grinding plane irons.

tks

>I'm pretty happy with a 6". I think you remove a little more material with each grinding but it makes honing faster and easier. IIRC, Krenov recommends a 5" wheel in his cabinet-making book.
