Jacksonvile got off pretty easy for the most part. Still got lots folks without power, fortunatly I'm not one of them.

Looks like Ivan is headred our way, so brace for shock.

After having close to 5" of rain yesterday from a severely weakened storm I have to admire your strength and resiliency. I couldn't imagine living where you get all of the other trimmings of a hurricane and more rain!

I hope that you and our other Floridian contributiors/lurkers are all well and able to get back in the shop soon!

PS - My shop basement flooded yesterday, no damage. I'm just worried about rust. The cleanup was cuss free, I realised it could have been a lot worse!

I am glad to hear that you have your power back on. September in SoFla with no AC is no fun. I went to Home Depot yesterday looking for roof turbine caps (they laughed), and there was a long, special line for plywood. I guess the folks down here who scoffed at Frances are getting spooked by Ivan.

On the job, I have spent the week tallying man-hours and damage (however slight) from Frances, at a bunch of facilities, and now we have to get ready for another one! I am going to leave the hurricane panels on my windows until Christmas.

Had to drive down to my parents' (they're out of town) to check their house last night. Water was about 8 or 10 inches deep in their carport and 3 or 4 from going in their utility room. Good thing the house is a bit higher. The ground is so wet it can't absorb any more. The steps behind their house going down the the canal they live on sounded and looked like a mountain stream. Luckily, it was receding when I left.

Now Ivan is on its way. I'm starting to think I have a "kick-me" sign on my back. Last two eyes passed over our house. Good luck to all.

No major damage,lost a few shingles on the townhouse we are living in so new roof soon but that will take some time with all the roof damage in the area. Only thing not working now is cable,no big deal for us. Making ice as fast as i can, just in case.

We are waiting and watching. I'm still cleaning up after Charley, should finish the last of the roof debris tomorrow. Been a long four weeks.

Feel bad for my Cayman Island friend right now, though. Geez! He's 100 feet from and maybe 6 feet above the south shore of G. Cayman, new house.

The clean up down here is big problem,well couple hours ago, 2 bobcats,1 small loader and drop off truck hit my street...really cool crew,no wasted time,just load and take care of business.......guess what, they are from California and have been up since 3:30am and came down to west palm beach from Orlando.......Offered water,food and they said "thanks we are ok and moved on. So if any of you out there know John Hernandez or Andy Vanderpleog from Philips & Jordan, they already have friends in West Palm Beach.

Really nice to see people work together in time's like this and i for one just want to say thank you to the folks that came that far to help us.
