catalog age? (gloat?) *LINK*
Moses Yoder in White Pigeon, MI
>Quite a day; I bid on this catalog this morning before going to work, assuming that I'd be outbid by the end of the day as I wouldn't be home when it ended. I may have paid too much but am quite pleased at winning the auction, as this will be by far the oldest catalog in my collection, and actually only the second Stanley tools catalog in my collection. I'm kind of wondering if anyone can look at the cover and guesstimate the year it was published; the seller claims 1904, but the pic of the #20 circular plane clearly shows a "copyright 1909".
Quite a day; there was a small auction I had to check out after work, and they actually had planes there, although no good ones. The rest of the buyers must have been after the coins as I got 7 planes at $5 each, although no really good ones, the best being a #191 rabbet plane missing the depth stop. The rest just decent little block planes. Then got home and found the Fine Woodworking magazine had arrived, then found out I won the catalog auction on ebay. It just doesn't get any better.
