ANother Saw Question

Now that I am intriqued by use of hand saws for "serious" wood working -- I have been using (and loving) the japanese saws for a while for joinery but not for "bulk" ripping -- it would seem I would need a suitable arrangment for positioning and holding wood that I need to rip to width. I would think that this device would hold the wood ~24 inchde form the floor and allow me to position my body over the work to make sure I kept to the line. I recall a recent thread about someone using a "B&D workmate" or some such -- just wonder what all the other table saw-less folks do. It also occurs to me that a band saw might be useful as well -- but that would seem to be cheating

Cheers

Eric
