>Where can I get some knickers for a Type 1 #46? According to Walters they are held on by their �wedge shape� in that funky, pre screw dimple. There�s also a glimpse of one in the Walters Type Study and they seem to be like the screw affixed ones without the hole.

Also, how did one adjust these? I can see how you can tap it out with a punch to lengthen it, but how did you tap it back or remove for sharpening without ruining the business end? Doesn't look like you could get a pair of needlenose in there.

>I'm betting that it is a some what soft metal and was sharpened with a safe side saw file on the plane. just tap down as it is needed. You might be able to make a new one out of a hack saw blade with the sides filed to the wedge shape. You also might be able to drive the old one out from the top with a punch sharpen then lightly spread the metal with a ball peen hammer or a punch to make it stick again it it won't naturaly.
