Weekend Projects

Ernie Miller Topeka

>Man I need a rest! it's been a long week. I am going to be working on the wifes never ending project. but I also hope to get a little free time to work O a new plane project. I started last night. I am making an out fill hand scraper. I picked up an 81 hand plane with a broken handle and am making a knob and tote to fit it on. I figure I can sell the rose wood sole and come out ahead on this deal. I grabed a billet of mystery wood out of the shop when I picked it up I thought it was Mahogany after cutting it I thought it looked like cherry but after carving on it I don't know that stuff is hard! I will have to turn a bigger mallet or somthing the 40 &50 rasps just skip acrost it. any way this will be a fun project. I also ned to make some more drawer rails for the work bench it is getting closer to being finished. Every one have a safe and Rocking good weekend!! And all of you going up to 5 Barns drive safe!

Long weekend

Brad in Ottawa

>Long weekend here in Ontario... plan on spending it enjoying the hot weather. Going to the in-laws on Sunday for some Mussels. Can't wait!!!

Biking in Gatineau Park, a National Park that is less than 20 minutes away!

Woodworking content:

-sharpening up some Ashley Iles chisels... beautiful and work like a charm!

-flattening a plane blade... tedious.

-Cut and dress some Birds Eye maple and ebony for a handsome marking gauge.

Have a great one!

>Well, I get to finally paint one whole side of the house!! THe prep work was incredible, it should have been painted 5-7 years ago (I bought it 2 years ago).

Also, I continue to put wall panels up on my barn extension. I should be able to start moving into it in say another 1-2 weeks. Then I can start building out the barn and turn it into my long awaited shop!!

With luck, I'll get to do actual WW say this winter.

Canadian Summer

Don Thompson, Cutler Ridge, Florida

>Can I trade places with you for the rest of the Summer? It is 90F. & 72% RH with a sizzling subtropical sun outside. I have been riding herd over a crew doing brick paver laying in my yard, and I think I need a Gatorade I.V.! (we won't even talk about the brick dust all over...)

Woodworking: Going to make a simple shelf structure for SWMBO, and maybe play with my new Ice Bear 10000 grit water stone - see if I can tell the difference past 8000.

It's a deal!

Brad in Ottawa

>As long as there is a similar trading of places in the middle of winter!

I'm curious about the results of your Ice Bear... please let me know if you feel it makes a difference!
