Plane Tote Source

>OK where is a good source for beech transitional plane totes? I suppose I could make them or pay Mike in Katy to make them, but I need like 7 or 8 and thats not how I want to spend my time or money. Thus far, I have been buying entire planes to get them, but its tough to find a trashed plane with a good tote. Sometimes I buy a plane if it is a bargain, only to find that it is actually better that the one I wanted to put the handle on still leaving me with a toteless plane.

When I buy a plane just for the tote I draw the line at $10. That excludes ebay because of the shipping and you can never tell if the totes are cracked anyway.

Suggestions?

>Unless you happen to get lucky and find a type 1 #40 scrub plane that needs a handle for $30 and then find a type 6 transitional #35 plane that has only three good parts on it for $5 so you can use the tote off of that plane for the #40 your choices are limited. I prefer the good luck scenario, and felt thankful when that exact same thing happened to me. I see several choices here if you don't want to pay good money for good quality totes; you can either make your own, or steal some somewhere.
