Lee Valley, Mr. Lee and IWF Atlanta

Bill Tindall, E. TN

>I, and I hope others will joint me, in encouraging Lee Valley to bring their entire line of planes and shaves to IWF-2004. It must be difficult determining what to put in limited booth space, so maybe some customer requests will help. Lie Nielsen will likely have their line of planes, at least they did in 2002, so it would be nice to be able to make comparisons. There are other opportunities to see LN tools but IWF is the only chance I will ever get to see a LV plane in 3 dimensions (as compared to 2 in catalog).

Ok so what will..

Christopher Fitch @ Memphis

>the next batch of tools be Rob?

I have seen the picture of the concave spokeshave in Popular Woodworking. Is that one and the large shoulder plane the other?

:)

>Hi Mike -

We intend to have them available end Aug, early September...

While we do have castings, and are making pre-production planes - we still have to make the fixtures and tooling for the mills...takes awhile!

>Both of those will be there.

It's really a question of what other new items we can bring...there's at least one really significant new item which should be there...but there's a lot of time between now and IWF...

This gets painful!

>Rob,

Are there descriptions or photographs of these new enchanted tools of yours anywhere we can sneak a look at them?

I can feel my credit cards getting ready to burst into flames.

>Is there a convex (measured along the edge of the iron, not front to back) shave on the development list too? That would be a nice lustworthy item.

All I can say is - sort of... we will make a tool to perform the function you describe.

Re: Will have the full plane line...

Rob Lee

>Nope - no photos yet...

That's a phase III tease - we're only at phase I.... :)

Really don't like to put out images too early, as the commercially available product may look a bit different...

Popular Woodworking did sneak a shot of the concave spokeshave in their last issue though...

Cheers -
