One of the things I liked about the Wolverine was that it allows me to grind my larger chisels that are hard to grind because they don`t lay flat on the table.Douglass chisels have a non-flat face(tapers away from center)and Merrills are rounded on the face so niether work well freehand.I scribe a grindline across the back so I can see where I`m going(hit it with a black magic marker first if your eyes are like mine)and adjust the "V" arm jig to get the proper angle as eyeballed to the stone.I just rest the end in the V and grind to the line.
I bet you thought that jig would only work for gouges.Who would have thought.
