Adjustable shelf solution

>Many thanks for your comments about the adjustable shelf on my Ky cabinet project. The adjustable feature is nice to have as long as it looks right and rows of woodpecker holes just do not look right on a hand crafted antique adaptation. Here is the solution as built. Shelf is in topmost position, but can be moved in seconds. BTW, this construction feature passed the SWMBO inspection with flying colors.

>The design is pretty. It's a shame this approach isn't used more often - it tends to be seen as something that is suitable only for reproductions. I've seen some clever variations, including one that used clamping the two vertical sections together and drilling holes with a Forstner bit, half in each upright, with the final effect being quite attractive scallops, and the cleats for the shelves then being rounded off on each end.

>Jim,

I didn't get in on the original post but I'm glad to see you went with adjustable shelving. I agree that holes are ugly as sin but your solution is great!
