Older Chisel ID help Please

Doug LIttlejohn

>Going through my assortment of old chisels last night (thinking of selling some) I cam eaccross some I do not have a clue about (big surprise).

The first one has a mark that kinda looks like the Iron Cross with the work "Extra" beside it. Oddly enough, the handles on these (3 of them all the same size) have a large, pronounced flat area with the initials "MGA" in large letters (1")stamped in.

The second one has what looks kinda like an arc (yup, as in Noah) with the size (one is 8m/m and one is 12m/m) just before the mark. The 'arc' even appears to be above a wavy line (the ocean??).

I have attached the a picture with a clumsy drawing of what they (the marks) look like.

Any help anyone can shed would be most appreciated. I tried Google'ing for makers mark sites or old identification sites to no avail.

TIA.

>Doug,

it's not an arc but a framesaw with the wavy line being the saw blade. The maker is Jacob Busch in Germany, better known to you under the 'Spannsage' trademark.
